Lanao del Norte is a province of the Philippines in central Mindanao with the town of Tubod as the capital. The province of Lanao del Norte is bounded by Lanao del Sur, Zamboanga del Sur, Misamis Occidental and Misamis Oriental provinces. Lanao del Norte is predominantly Christian with Muslim minorities. In the face of the continuing negative media impression of Lanao del Norte, I still consider Lanao del Norte one of the most ideal place to live in the Philippines. The people of Lanao del Norte are geographically safe against typhoons and several other natural calamities. When I was stranded in Manila when typhoon “Ondoy” ravaged the country few weeks ago, I candidly was yearning to get back to my province the soonest possible time. Life in Manila is really bad except for the wealthy people. To all “probinsyanas” or “probinsyanos” who desire and would do anything to find their luck in Manila, gear up and tighten your buckles before moving forward to “the land of opportunity”. Obviously, lots of opportunities most likely wait in Manila but the certainty of getting into it depends ones qualifying ability. Peace and order situation in Lanao del Norte may not be 100% stable but where in the world one would likely live a 100% crime or violence free environment? - Lanao del Norte is comprised of 22 municipalities, namely: Bacolod, Balo-i, Baroy, Kapatagan, Kauswagan, Lala, Linamon, Magsaysay, Maigo, Matungao, Munai, Nunungan, Pantao Ragat, Pantar, Poona Piagapo, Salvador, Sapad, Sultan Naga Dimaporo (Karomatan), Tagoloan, Tangkal, and Tubod. - It has 42 barangays - It has 2 Districts, (1st) Iligan City to the Municipality of Baroy and (2nd ) from Municipality of Balo-I to Sapad - The Christian-Muslim ratio is 60:40 in favor of the Christians - Cebuano, English and Filipino are widely spoken among Christians, and Maranao for Muslims - The average temperature is 80 degrees on the Fahrenheit scale - Lanao del Norte is outside the typhoon belt and has a non-seasonal climate with an average yearly rainfall of 60 inches - Lanao del Norte is rich in agricultural resources like rice, corn, coconut and wood products as well as marine products like crabs, shrimps, sea shells, sea woods.
