The wintry atmosphere inside SM City that was my favorite spot for the past days in a row naturally drives my wits to go outdoors and reconsider the warmth of the sun. In same way, it triggers my senses that I am over and done with “malling” around. Microsoft Word obviously doesn’t recognize the word “malling”. To me, the word “malling” means window shopping around the mall…hmmm… Get my point?
Zebra
After attending the Sunday mass yesterday, I went on a safari to the backwoods of Manila Zoo. I learned about this wilderness in the middle of the metropolitan area when I was still a child but never had I tried to find time to go over this place. Finally and for the very first time after 35 years…LOL…I was there.
Philippine Crocodile
The place doesn’t seem to look as impressive as Singapore’s Night Safari based on what I seen from Singapore’s Night Safari website but I still consider Manila Zoo an interesting and very educational place for both children and grown ups to hang around. I was supposed to visit Night Safari one time but unfortunately, it did not pushed through for some untoward reason. Though Manila Zoo’s animal collection is limited, still it is not disappointing as I seen for the very first time a tiger, an elephant, a hippopotamus and a zebra. Shamefully, I only have seen these creatures on books, television and in movies.
Burmese Python
Snakes? Well, the zoo of course has this cold-bloodied reptile but it doesn’t anymore excite me because I have seen this creature before. But I have one very remarkable photo to share with this cold bloodied thing during my visit to Manila Zoo yesterday but that would be on my next post. My two sons have very keen interest on reptiles especially snakes. Many times I noticed the brothers surfing the internet at home over You Tube for videos showing snakes like cobras, pythons, etc. Also their toys includes real looking snake that I terribly fainted one time when I grasped one real looking cobra toy model under the pillow…LOL…
Hippopotamus?
Ostrich
Peacock
Tiger
Green Iguana
Llama
Sailfin Water Lizard
Monkey
Malayan Box, Painted and Red-Eared Slider Turtles
Estuarine Crocodile
Zoo visitors (human of course…LOL…) enjoying a boat ride inside the zoo’s recreation park.
Manila Zoo is located within Metro Manila. I don’t know the exact address but it is just some walking distance from Harrison Plaza. Admission is not free of course. Entrance ticket fee for adults is Php 40.00 and for children is Php 20.00. Metro Manila residents are enjoying half the amount from the regular admission rate. Proof of residence identification like voter’s ID, school ID, postal ID, etc must be presented to the ticketing booth otherwise regular rate ticket will be issued automatically.
